this was the very first pub I went to upon moving to london, so it has a special place in my heart! the castle is pretty small, but has a cosy atmosphere with a sun deck in the summer and fire place in the winter. The food they serve is pretty good and the prices for drinks are normal. I think it's a great place to go for a pint especially if you want to get away from busy upper street and shoreditch/hoxton.

As Mr Sunshine reluctantly takes his hat off as we near the 2 week British summer, I have found a pub that provides a charming brown chap, such as myself, with all that he could ever want to pass a few hours with good food, drink and friends. The Castle, which a short stroll from Angel tube station, has become a traditional place to congregate on the Easter Sunday for a roast and a debaucherous afternoon of cider and shots of Jägermeister. It is swiftly followed by an evening session of Lucky Voice (which I have also reviewed).

This is a decent pub, but it is really missing something, although I don't know what.  It was such a downer coming from the Lexington which is such an awesome, hopping, happening and yet down-to-earth place.  It is almost as if the Castle hasn't picked its personality or identity yet and so it is just a bit dull.  The lighting scheme also should be reviewed....

This pub is a good bet if you are trying to walk from Angel to Kings Cross, with a quick pint in between (which is exactly how we found it).  It's nice and clean on the inside, and has a good vibe.  The beers on tap aren't exactly life changing or interesting, but it's a solid choice in the area.

Cool pub; nice and clean and attractive inside and out, but the beer is always flat and blah. I've actually never had a good pint there. It's really a shame because the vibe is great in there, so if you're drinking something other than draught you're probably OK, but I can't give it more than three stars if they beer ain't good! That said, I've been a few times for work related functions and we've always had a blast and those drinking wine or cocktails were all very pleased!

My Mum and Dad spent the bulk of their last stay in this pub just to get away from the horrible Jury's Inn next door. On the few occasions I joined them I was quite taken with the place and impressed by the cosy feel. Generally the bars in Angel tend to fall down one of two lines- ultra modern expensive wine bar or old man grotty pub- so it was quite nice to find a happy medium.

The Castle pub located on the busy Pentonville Road is great pub if you want a break from the busy centre of Angel.  The interior of the pub is nicely but unimpressively decorated - but as the other reviews have noted, the best part about this particular pub is the roof terrace.

Close to Angel tube station, The Castle on Pentonville road is exactly what I have come to expect from a pub in London.  As old-school boozers fade from the map this line of suave-looking gastropubs have rolled in to take their place and keep in line with the wave of gentrification.  As such you can probably guess what the Castle looks like; lots of neutral colour, 'arty' pictures and chalk boards attempting to blend modernity with a retro pub look; all that happens is it ends up looking distinctly average with nothing particularly alluring or eye-catching.

The Castle is a pub on the Pentonville road, close to Angel Islington station. The pub has two floors. The first is the main pub room with bar, tables and sofas. The second floor is the roof terrace.

The Castle is a nice place to go for a drink if you are looking for something like a pub but can't handle the sport tv on the back ground. It is very easy going, nice interior, clean and neat. That's about it.  They have a nice looking roof terrace but it was too cold to try it out and honestly I don't know who can handle all the Pentonville road traffic noise?
